William Colbourne - Distinguished Director Award 2014

LAKE FOREST, ILL. November 11, 2014 – Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (LFGSM) is honored to award William J. Colbourne with the 2014 Distinguished Director Award. A member of the LFGSM Board since 2009, Colbourne is recognized for his outstanding leadership skills, business acumen, service and support for our organization. He currently serves as chair of the HR and Compensation Committee.

David McDonough, chairman of the board of directors for LFGSM honored Colbourne for the integral role he has played on the board due to his years of executive resources experience and practical approach.

“Bill is a true champion for investing in quality education, and providing strategic and functional leadership through his board and committee work,” said McDonough. “He has had a significant, positive, direct effect on our revenue for years through his sponsorship of the BlueCross BlueShield onsite MBA program. His executive sponsorship was critical to establishing and building our onsite program.”

A seasoned human resources executive, Colbourne has held key leadership positions at for-profit and not-for-profit organizations within the insurance and financial services industries. He has a proven track record of achieving significant results in leading human resources and administration functions for major organizations.
He currently oversees the human resources function, including employee benefit and compensation programs, recruitment efforts, employee relations as well as training and development for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). During his 18 year tenure with BCBSA, the organization has received several HR-related awards recognizing its success in providing opportunities for employees at all stages of their careers. Colbourne was recognized by HR Executive magazine by including him on their “HR Honor Roll.”

In addition to his work with LFGSM, he supports the Board of Directors for BCBSA, with a special focus on executive compensation, and is a frequent speaker to internal and external audiences concerning workforce demographics, human resources and workplace issues.
