(November 18, 2013) - Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (LFGSM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joher Akolawala, Vice President, Finance of Kraft Foods Group, to its Board of Directors. Elected to the Board in September 2013, Akolawala will serve on the Board’s Finance & Audit Committee.

A demonstrated leader with a diverse background in business and engineering, Joher has consistently demonstrated an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, leadership training, and talent development. He will be a substantial asset to our Finance & Audit Committee, and we are privileged to have him join our Board.”
Akolawala joined Kraft Foods Group in 1991 and has assumed roles of increasing responsibility. In 2012, upon the Kraft Foods, Inc. split, he was appointed to his current position of Vice President, Finance for Kraft Foods Group, where he is responsible for providing strategic and financial leadership to the Grocery business unit, which has approximately $5B in annual gross revenues. Prior to his current position, Akolawala was VP, Business Systems and Project Management Officer, reporting to the Chairman of the Steering Committee responsible for the separation of the North America infrastructure and enterprise applications supporting the Kraft Foods, Inc. split.
From 2009 through 2011, Akolawala was VP, Finance of Kraft North America, Foodservice, a business unit with $2B in annual revenues, where he managed a team of 75 staff in the U.S. and Canada and led a significant transformative initiative for the business unit across the organization, processes and systems. Between 1991 and 2009, Akolawala held finance leadership positions within Kraft, both in the US and in Europe, including serving as Head of Finance for Kraft’s Latin America Manufacturing & Procurement Organizations and as Director, Finance for Kraft Foods Italy. Earlier in his career he was a business engineer in Pune, India and a sales consultant in Mumbai, India.

Akolawala is a fiduciary member of the Benefits Investment Committee for Kraft Foods Group and executive co-sponsor for the company’s Finance Development Leadership Counsel (Culture & Diversity Chapter). He was recognized by the Organization of Chinese Americans with both the 2010 National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Award and 2010 Community Service Award. Akolawala earned a BS - Engineering from the University of Poona, where he graduated with honors, and an MBA from the University of South Carolina – Columbia, where he graduated as the “Most Outstanding Graduate Student” of his class.
