Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (LFGSM) is an award-winning place to work. LFGSM has been named one of Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) and one of 2016’s Best Places to Work in Illinois by the Best Companies Group.

The Best and Brightest award is bestowed upon companies that represent exceptional places to work due to their great human resources practices and an impressive commitment to their employees.  The companies selected embody the Best and Brightest program motto of “Better Business, Richer Lives, Stronger Communities.” As a Best and Brightest honoree, LFGSM will participate in a yearlong education and celebration program to continue to strengthen our workplace. The program includes workshops, assessment tools, resources, and a celebratory symposium and luncheon. The luncheon brings together all of Chicago’s 2016 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For Honorees to recognize them, showcase their best practices, and demonstrate why the honored companies are ideal places for employees to work. LFGSM’s Human Resources team looks forward to participating in the luncheon on July 15, 2016 and networking with our fellow awardees throughout the program.

The Best Places to Work in Illinois award identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Illinois that benefit the state’s economy, workforce, and businesses. LFGSM has been named one of The Best Places to Work in Illinois in the small employer category alongside 29 other businesses.  As an honoree, LFGSM will be recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Illinois awards ceremony coordinated by The Daily Herald Business Ledger on May 26 and will be profiled in a special publication on June 27.

In order to receive these exciting awards, LFGSM underwent a vigorous evaluation process. The evaluation process of both awards was divided into two parts. The first part consisted of a questionnaire detailing human resource policies, practices, and demographics. The second part involved the employee experience with employees anonymously submitting their thoughts and feelings about working at LFGSM. The application was then evaluated based on categories such as work-life balance, employee education, diversity, retention, communication, and more.

Winning these awards will impact LFGSM beyond 2016 as we work to continuously strengthen our workplace. As Linda Stolberg, an HR Generalist at LFGSM, remarks, “How can we be a successful business management learning institution if we don’t practice what we preach? I can list off about 50 employee benefits, work-life balance initiatives, and fun things we do to meet (and often exceed) our employees’ needs. But at its core, the reason our employees are so motivated, productive, and satisfied is because we constantly engage our employees through meaningful work, autonomy, collaboration, development opportunities, and recognition.”

As both a Best and Brightest and Best Place to Work honoree, LFGSM is enhancing our reputation as an institution dedicated to attracting and fostering world-class talent.
