David M. McDonough (Board Vice-Chair)

Mr. McDonough joined Trustmark in 2002 as President and COO and was named Chief Executive Officer in March 2005. Trustmark is an employee benefits company dedicated to providing financial security, improving health and well-being, and helping people navigate the healthcare system. Trustmark operating divisions and subsidiary companies include Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions, CoreSource, Starmark, and HealthFitness. Trustmark’s more than 6,000 full- and part-time employees provide a broad range of medical, life, accident, critical illness and disability insurance products, as well as expert benefit administration services and integrated population health improvement solutions. The company has assets of $1.8 billion and provides benefits to more than two million covered lives or plan participants.
Prior to joining Trustmark, Mr. McDonough was Executive Vice President and COO of Fortis Health for five years. From 1995 to 1997 he served as Sr. Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Providian Corporation, a financial services and insurance company. He joined the firm in 1991 as V.P. – Corporate Strategic Planning. Prior experience includes service as a consultant and partner of a small promotional marketing company; V.P. – New Product Development of Heublein, Inc.; and Regional Economist at Hartford Insurance Group.
Mr. McDonough is a member of the Boards of Directors of The Trustmark Companies and the Illinois Life Insurance Council. From 1999 – 2002 he served on the Board of the Milwaukee Redevelopment Council. He was elected to the Board of Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in 2005.
