Mark Regensburger, Sergeant First Class - U.S. Army and Educational Activities Coordinator of The U.S. Army Band, Lake Forest MBA Class of 1992

Mark Regensburger recently experienced an honor few enjoy – leading the Presidential Inaugural Parade with the U.S. Army Field Band. Yet his role as Educational Activities Coordinator for the Band, the Army’s only full-time touring musical organization, is no less important. “We build bridges between the Army and the American people through music,” he explains. “We reach out to young people through school clinics and performances, and play in communities and at professional music conferences across the nation.”

Trained in music education, Mark knew he needed business skills to succeed in his expanding management role. His studies at LFGSM helped him be more effective at putting other musicians’ talents into action and expanding the Band’s impact. “In my position, most things are accomplished through cooperation between equals and peers, working across areas and in cooperation with civilians,” he says. “I use the coordination, communication, and negotiation skills I learned at LFGSM every day.”

Mark’s business skills have allowed him to better show the young people of America the quality and professionalism of those who have volunteered to serve their country. He explains, “I’m truly grateful to be able to help reinforce the important virtue of serving something greater than oneself.”
